— The Night Shift —
one night painting classes
Always wanted to try oil painting but don’t know where to start? Come spend one night getting messy, creative, and a little paint-drunk!
In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll be guided step-by-step through creating your own painting from start to finish. No experience necessary — just show up, have a drink, and let’s paint!
All supplies are provided, and you’ll leave with your very own original piece to take home. BYOB, bring a friend, and come ready to make something you’re actually proud of.

— 6 Weeks In The Machine: The Paint Lab —
Ready to go beyond a one-night painting class? Join us for six weeks of painting, learning, experimenting, and making something new! Each week builds on the last as we explore different techniques, subjects, and approaches to painting. No previous experience necessary — just bring your creativity!
BEGINNER CLASS $250 per
Week 1 — Meet Your Materials
Get comfortable with your paints, brushes, palette, and basic techniques. We’ll cover color mixing, brushwork, composition, and how to actually get started on a canvas.
Week 2 — Light & Shadow
Learn how light changes what we see. We’ll work with simple forms and objects to practice values, shadows, highlights, and creating dimension.
Week 3 — Still Life Underpainting
Put those skills together with a full still-life painting. We’ll explore composition, proportions, color, and painting from observation. Just creating the underpainting to work on next week!
Week 4 — Still Life Main Painting
Let’s get real and add our top layer of colors and brushstrokes. try new techniques with different tools!
Week 5 — Finding Your Style
Time to experiment! We’ll play with different techniques, brushwork, color palettes, and styles while figuring out what makes your painting feel like you. And start on our final self guided piece!
Week 6 — Your Final Piece
Bring everything together for your final painting. You’ll choose your subject, plan your composition, and spend the class creating a finished piece that shows what you’ve learned over the six weeks.
INCLUSIONS
Paints, brushes, medium, turp, palette, rags, basic drawing and painting tools (ALL to be kept and returned to Machine Studios after the 6 weeks!)
Practice papers/canvas sheets, 2 12×16 canvases for two final paintings (ALL practice sheets and final paintings are the artist’s to take home at the end!

ADVANCE CLASS $300 per
Week 1 — Build Your Canvas
Learn how to stretch, staple, prime, and prepare your own canvas. Talk about canvas types, surfaces, and why preparation matters.
Week 2 — Composition & Planning
Develop a more intentional composition. Sketch, plan values, establish a color palette, and transfer your self portrait to canvas. Taking good reference photos.
Week 3 — Color & Technique
Dive deeper into color mixing, temperature, edges, layering, texture, and developing a more intentional painting process. Skin-tones, undertones, and underpainting.
Week 4 — The Big Piece
Start adding the top layer of colors to your self-portrait piece. Focus on the looking of values and mixing colors. Simple shadows and shapes blocking the values in.
Week 5 — Eyes Can See
Continue working on the painting, understand the fundamentals of the oils it self and work with them. We are refining the colors and shadows.
Week 6 — Finish & Refine
Complete your final piece, learn finishing touches and presentation, and talk about varnishing, framing, and caring for your work. If time hanging mechanisms are attached!

— 6 Weeks In The Machine: The Drawing Shift —
Think you “can’t draw”? Let’s fix that. Over six weeks, you’ll learn the fundamentals of drawing in a relaxed, hands-on environment where there’s no pressure to be perfect. We’ll explore line, shape, proportion, perspective, shading, value, texture, and drawing from observation. Each week builds on the last, helping you understand not just how to draw, but how to actually see what you’re drawing.
No experience necessary — just bring yourself and a willingness to put pencil to paper.

Week 1 — Lines, Shapes & Seeing
Learn the foundations of drawing through lines, basic shapes, contour drawing, and simple exercises that teach you to really look at what you’re drawing.
Week 2 — Proportion & Perspective
Learn how to accurately place and size objects on the page, with an introduction to perspective and creating depth.
Week 3 — Light, Shadow & Value
Explore highlights, midtones, shadows, and contrast. Practice turning simple shapes into objects that look three-dimensional.
Week 4 — Texture & Detail
Learn how to create the appearance of different surfaces—wood, glass, metal, fabric, skin, etc.—using line, shading, and mark-making.
Week 5 — Drawing from Observation
Put everything together with a still-life drawing. Learn how to break down a real subject, build your composition, and work from basic shapes into details.
Week 6 — Final Drawing
Choose your own subject and create a finished drawing using the skills you’ve learned. We’ll work through the piece step-by-step and finish with a little group critique and celebration.

Drawing supplies; including paper, mediums, and tools. (ALL supplies must be returned to Machine Studios after the class.)
